STEVE GRAINGER


Steve Grainger is a professional birding guide with over 15 years of experience taking guests on extended and day birding adventures.



He is the Owner and Lead Guide of ‘Tropical Treks Guided Birding Adventures’ based in Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia (a region where over 40% of Australia’s bird species are found).



His knowledge stems from a lifetime of living and working in the Australian Bush. Steve volunteers with several groups including Australian Wildlife Conservancy and Northern Gulf Resource Management on birding, mammal and reptile surveys within Aboriginal Lands and Agricultural properties.



He also has volunteered with Birdlife Australia in providing educational tours of Mary Cairncross Reserve and surveys of the Yandina Wetlands, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.



Steve's favourite Australian place to visit is Cape York, as he has over 35 years of adventures on ‘The Cape’ and knows this region better than anyone.



Steve has travelled to many places in the world in search of wildlife adventures, including Nepal, Turkey, Egypt, UK, Thailand, Middle East, Europe and more.



His professional accreditations include Ecoguide (Australia), Senior Savannah Guide and Wet Tropics World Heritage Guide. He also holds Wilderness and Remote First Aid certification.



With Ken Cross he has started Australian Birding Safaris.
